# Excite

## Description

Excite is a great tool to help with overshooting property values.

## Setup

1. Select a Property, or multiple Properties that you would like to affect. The properties should be keyframed, but keys can also be added *after* running Excite.
2. With the Properties selected, open the Excite tool. Modify any of the Overshoot, Bounce, and Friction presets, and run Excite.
3. An effect control for each selected property will be created, allowing you to modify the overshoot animation

## Options

The Excite options allow you to set preset values that will be applied to the Effect Controls after running the tool. You can set and save these presets for future runs.

## Effect Controls

The Excite tool has the following effect controls:

**Enable**\
Enables the overshoot

**Overshoot**\
Affects the magnitude of the property value oscillation

**Bounce**\
Affects the frequency of the property value oscillation.

**Friction**\
How quickly the overshoot will decay. A Friction value of 0 will continue oscillating and never stop. A very high friction value will stop the overshoot oscillation very quickly.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://motion-studio.mtmograph.com/ae-extension/tools/excite.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
