# Upgrading from Motion 4

### What is Motion Studio?

Motion Studio is a new standalone desktop application + extension bundle, representing 10+ years of development at Mt. Mograph.

### Is upgrading to Motion Studio required?

Upgrading to Motion Studio is completely optional. If you already own a license for Motion 4, that license will continue to work. We will continue to support Motion 4 with bug fixes and compatibility updates.

### Is Motion Studio included in with the Motion 4 license?

No, Motion Studio is a separate product from Motion 4. While many of the features in the extension are from previous iterations of our Motion products, Motion Studio is a standalone application with numerous features that extend outside the Adobe ecosystem

If you are a previous customer of ours who owns Motion 4 (or any previous Motion), keep an eye out in your email for a massive discount. We want upgrading to be easy and cost-effective for our community members who have supported us in the past.
