Every vector lives in a pack, and can be dragged straight into After Effects or Illustrator, exported as a file, or attached to other Motion Studio assets (folders, Re-Keys, palettes) as their identifying icon.
{% hint style="warning" %} *If you see "No Vectors! Please install or update your Motion Studio extension."* The Adobe extension hasn't been installed yet. The vector library ships with the extension package. {% endhint %} ## Browsing ### Packs The Packs section in the side panel lists every installed vector pack with its item count. *All Packs* is the default and shows everything you have. Click a pack name to filter the grid to just that pack. The count next to each pack reflects the current search query. Type a term in the search bar and the counts update to show how many vectors in each pack match ### Collections Above the Packs list are two collection tabs that draw from across every pack: * Favorites — vectors you've starred. Click the star icon (or right-click → Favorite) on any vector to add it. Favorited vectors get a small filled star in the top-right of their tile. Click again (or Unfavorite from the right-click menu) to remove. * History — vectors you've recently used. Anything dragged into an Adobe panel, exported, or attached as an icon shows up here, newest first. Right-click → Remove from History to clear individual entries. ### Searching The global search bar at the top of the app applies across packs. Searches are matched against vector names, tags, and pack metadata via the in-memory VectorSearchIndex. Clear the search bar to return to the full grid. ### Selecting * Click a tile to select it. * Cmd/Ctrl-click to toggle additional tiles into the selection. * Shift-click to extend the selection through a range. \ The selected vectors are reflected in the right-side Info panel (when open) and become the targets for footer actions and keyboard shortcuts. ### Right-click actions Right-clicking any vector tile opens its context menu: * Info — opens the Info panel pinned to this vector * Favorite / Unfavorite — toggles the favorite star * Remove from History — appears when the vector is currently in your History * Export — opens the Export Vector modal (see below) ### Dragging into Adobe The fastest way to use a vector is to drag the tile directly out of Motion Studio and drop it into your After Effects or Illustrator document. The drag uses your saved export settings to render the file on the fly — so an SVG drag drops in a vector layer, while a PNG drag drops in a rasterized one at the dimensions you've configured. The default drag folder is your system temp directory, but you can point it at a project folder, Dropbox share, or anywhere else. See [#export-settings](#export-settings "mention"). ### Export To save a vector to a specific location with one-off settings, right-click → Export (or use the footer button). The Export modal opens with the active vector preview and a format tab bar at the top. ### Formats Motion Studio exports vectors in four formats: SVG, PNG, JPG, HTML ### Export settings The Export Options modal sets the defaults used by: \- The Export modal's initial values \- All drag-to-Adobe operations Options: * Filetype — SVG / PNG / JPG / HTML. This is the format used when you drag a tile into an Adobe panel. The Vectors page header has a quick-access dropdown for this same setting so you can switch formats without opening the modal. * Width / Height — default raster dimensions (100–10000 px each). * Background Color — default background for rasters. Click the striped tile for transparent. * Vector Drag Folder — the destination for temp files written during drag. Pick a directory the Adobe app and your OS can both reach; the default is the system temp folder. ## Using vectors elsewhere in Motion Studio Vectors aren't just for export. They're also used as icons across Motion Studio: * Folder icons in any library (Color, Scripts, Easings, Re-Keys, Vectors, Sketchpads, Minis) — open a folder's info panel and pick a vector for its icon. * Re-Key icons — pick an SVG to represent a recorded key sequence. * Mini palette icons — Minis use vectors on their tile.
